Cookie policy

About this policy

  1. This policy explains how Qlix uses cookies and similar technologies on qlixapp.com and within the Qlix application. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
  2. Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, keep you signed in between pages, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. Similar technologies such as local storage and web beacons work in comparable ways, and this policy covers those too.
  3. Last updated: 23 July 2026.

No cookies on the student experience

  1. QlixGo - the student-facing surface at go.qlixapp.com where students complete and submit work - uses strictly necessary cookies only. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no tracking technologies of any kind on the student experience. We do not measure, profile or track students.
  2. The remainder of this policy applies to our marketing website and to the teacher and tutor application.

Categories of cookies we use

  1. Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the service to function and cannot be switched off. They keep you signed in, remember your consent choices, balance traffic across our servers, and protect against fraudulent sign-in attempts. Because these cookies are essential to a service you have asked for, they do not require your consent. If you block them, parts of Qlix will not work.
  2. Analytics cookies. These help us understand how Qlix is used - which pages are visited and which features are opened - so we can improve the product. They record a pseudonymous account identifier, never your name, your lesson content, or any student data. They run only after you click Accept (or turn analytics on in Manage and save). Ignoring the banner, closing the page, or continuing to browse is not consent - analytics stay off until you accept. Rejecting them does not affect how Qlix works for you.
  3. We do not use advertising or targeting cookies. Qlix does not serve advertising, does not sell data to advertisers, and does not build marketing profiles of users or students. There is no advertising toggle in our cookie settings.

Cookies we set

  1. The list below covers cookies and similar technologies used on our website and teacher application. Names and durations may change as we update the service; we review this list regularly.
  2. Strictly necessary
    • next-auth.session-token / __Secure-next-auth.session-token - keeps you signed in to the Qlix application. Session (cleared when you sign out).
    • next-auth.csrf-token / __Host-next-auth.csrf-token - protects sign-in forms against cross-site request forgery. Session.
    • consent_analytics - remembers your analytics preference so we do not ask again. Duration: 12 months. Shared across qlixapp.com subdomains so the website and teacher app respect the same choice.
  3. Analytics - used only after analytics consent is accepted
    • _ga - Google Analytics (G-856VE79PVR). Distinguishes visitors. Duration: 2 years.
    • _ga_856VE79PVR - Google Analytics. Maintains session state for this property. Duration: 2 years.
    • Mixpanel - product usage events against a pseudonymous account identifier. Stored in browser local storage (not a Mixpanel cookie) only after analytics consent is accepted. No student data.
  4. If you reject analytics, or have not yet accepted them, we do not run Google Analytics or Mixpanel on the website or the teacher application. After you accept, our analytics providers receive a pseudonymous account identifier and usage events. They do not receive your name, your email address, your lesson content, or any student data.

Managing your choices

  1. When you first visit the Qlix website or teacher application we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. You can Accept, Reject, or open Manage to change the analytics toggle. Your choice is stored in the consent_analytics cookie and shared across qlixapp.com so the website and teacher app stay in sync. You can change your decision later using Manage cookies on the cookie policy page, Manage on the cookie banner when it is shown, or the banner in the teacher application.
  2. You can also control cookies through your browser, which lets you block or delete cookies for any site. Every major browser publishes instructions in its help pages. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in to Qlix.
  3. Where we use third-party analytics, those providers also publish their own information about how they process data. Links are available in our trust and security page, which lists every service provider we use.

Changes to this policy

  1. We may update this policy as the service changes or as we add or remove providers. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects your choices, ask for your consent again.

Contact

  1. If you have questions about our use of cookies, or would like to complain about how we handle your personal data, contact us at privacy@qlixapp.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
  2. Our full approach to data protection is set out in our privacy policy.
